Also known as the powerhouse of the cell. It provides the cell with the energy it needs by using oxygen to burn food molecules to create the energy.
Mitochondria is known to be a form of bacteria which allows it to date back thousands and thousands of years.
It has been discovered the mitochondria has its own DNA. This has been a real boost in human genetics.
It is made of tiny folds called cristae which makes the surface area larger.
